The Houston Public Library presents Critical Conversations: Leveling the Playing Field in Education. Join Dr. Ruth N. Lopez Turley, Director of the Kinder Institute for Urban Research, and Houston Public Library’s Larry Payne for a discussion that explores the challenges and opportunities facing the future of quality education for all. 

Dr. Ruth N. Lopez Turley is one of the Houston2036 Taskforce on Equity panel members and Larry Payne is a member of the steering committee.  

The event will be Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at the Houston Public Library's Central library (500 McKinney Street). The event is free and open to the public.

Transforming Houston’s future. In preparation for the bicentennial of Houston in 2036, the American Leadership Forum, Dialogue Houston, University of St. Thomas, University of Houston-Downtown are bringing leaders together to create and act upon a powerful vision of social justice for Houston’s future.  

The Houston 2036 Taskforce on Equity will be responsible for developing the vision, designing a plan for realizing that vision, and taking collective action to drive measurable change.
